Out of frustration the words Let’s Talk were born. It feels like no one wants to talk about the dead bird in the room, even if it is right in front of you and demands attention. It was as if each sentence already existed, I just needed to capture the words and write them down on a piece of paper. The simple words, Let’s Talk, stands for a conversation that doesn’t exist. It stands for the public invisibility of indigenous peoples. Where thousands of voices have spoken without being listened to. It stands for a revolution from silence and the song is a call for change. It’s time to create space and talk about the dead bird in the room, to include the perspective of indigenous peoples and indigenous peoples in societal structures. I feel incredibly grateful that I have many young talented voices from my home area on the recording. Special thanks to the talented young artists Ailo Östergren Njajta, Freja Östergren Njajta, Ol-Jona Sjaunja Persson, Elmie-Valentina Anundsson. I can feel the new-found power from my ancestors and the power from today’s youth as we, in this song demand a change.
