I want to honour Sagka Stångberg by creating space for her inspiring voice and commitment. Sagka is from the same geographical area as me, Vapsten. We are honoured by sharing the same roots.
To be able to meet and speak the language of my heart together with someone who fully respects my imperfections and at the same time encourages continued linguistic development is fantastic and a true work of revitalization.
Sagka is my link to my roots, my link to my language and my link to previous generations.
Sagka Stångberg is a strong woman, an inspiring source of knowledge and a champion of Sami culture and the South Sami language. With a burning commitment she has never given up the fight for Sápmi. Sagka has a long political career behind her at the same time as she in her profession fought for the South Sami language through her work as a teacher and then principal of the Sami school in Tärnaby.
Sagka has a strong voice and to have her voice and her yoik on my record is a great honour for me.
